Chapter 01 · Transparent by Design
A Note From Me
Lucent started as an identity, but somewhere along the way I realized it was really about something much simpler: how much we’re willing to let each other in.

A living editorial collection about homes, design, people, photography, real estate, and the stories surrounding them.
Issue 00 · September 2026
Lucent started with a simple idea: trust is built through transparency, and every relationship worth having depends on it. Somewhere between homes, photography, design, technology, people, and a career that has never felt particularly transactional to me, that idea grew into something much bigger. The Journal is the first visible piece. Issue 00 is where I tell you why.

Chapter 09 · Before the Beginning
I could have waited until Lucent was bigger, cleaner, easier to explain, and impossible to doubt. I think that would have missed the point.

Welcome to Lucent
The Departments
A personal note from Jaice, framing the story and theme behind each issue.
An intimate look inside one exceptional home, through the eyes of the people who live in it.
A candid conversation with Bryce, Kirby, or Jaice on the realities of buying, selling, and negotiating in today's market.
The current roster, private opportunities, and the story behind one featured property.
A rotating department — neighborhood notes, a design conversation, or a read on the market, depending on the issue.
A look ahead at what's coming next — upcoming stories, conversations, properties, and ideas taking shape for the next issue.
“Where you live deserves the same attention as how you live.”

Jaice Alexander Gardner founded Lucent Journal to bring the same attention he's always brought to real estate — a background in property management, marketing, and client services, paired with a sharp eye for design and presentation — to writing about the homes he represents.
Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, growing up between Sherman Oaks and Studio City, Jaice has a natural connection to the neighborhoods Lucent Journal covers. He began his career supporting top-producing agents in Beverly Hills and Hollywood, then expanded into sales, leasing, and property management — overseeing everything from listing preparation to the marketing strategies that get a home seen.
A partner at Christie's International Real Estate, Southern California, Jaice founded Lucent Journal because the homes he represents, and the people behind them, were always more interesting than a listing sheet could say.

Lucent is based on an idea that grew from an experience seen far too often in real estate — where genuine care can feel like an illusion, and so much energy is spent maintaining appearances that could instead go toward something real.
That realization is when Lucent became a reality. It is more than a publication — a living collection of the people, homes, and experiences that give real estate its meaning.
